 What is the

PATRIOT HOUSE?

                        patriothouse[1].jpg

PNS (Presbyterian Night Shelter) operates one of the most successful veterans' transitional housing programs in the United States, working in partnership with the Veterans Administration (VA) to: secure and retain employment for homeless veteran clients; move them into permanent housing; and eliminate or minimize barriers to continued self-sufficiency.

Thirty-six veteran facilities are available in dormitory style settings within the Main Shelter, and 32 other spaces are available in the recently opened Patriot House. The VA recognized the need to serve more homeless veterans and provided a grant for partial funding of the Patriot House.

The Patriot House is an extensive renovation of an existing building, located a block north of the Main Shelter, and nearly doubled the number of homeless veterans the Presbyterian Night Shelter serves. The Patriot House is a semi-private, transitional housing program for homeless veterans, which will prepare veterans for permanent, independent housing within 24 months.

Clients who live in the 5,200-square-foot Patriot House function in a more independent manner. They prepare their own meals, and have separate recreation, and as well as access to showers, laundry services and a computer lab

How can you help these VETERANS?

DID YOU NOTICE OUR “ANGEL” TREE? It is located just inside the entrance to our Post.

This year our Angel Tree Angels are residents of the new PATRIOT HOUSE in Fort Worth!

We will be going to the Fort Worth, Texas, PATRIOT HOUSE on December 27th to provide dinner and will deliver your donations at that time.
We invite you to go with us.  Details will be available soon.

We have hung envelopes on the angel tree.  Each envelope contains an item from the need list provided by the PATRIOT HOUSE.  These are easy items to shop for.  The needs include items for kitchen, living, patio areas of the house.  Also needed are items such as new twin sheets, towels, laundry detergent, bleach & softener.  The clients also need full size grooming items like soap, shampoo & conditioner, shaving creams.  Paper products like toilet paper, paper towels and tissues are also needed.

Before you leave the Post, stop by the tree and take one or more envelopes.
