Boys State
American Legion Boys State is among the most respected and selective educational programs of government instruction for high school students. It is a participatory program where each student becomes a part of the operation of his local, county, and state government.
Americanism Update
North Texas Law Enforcement Explorer Advisor Academy (TLEEAA) recent graduates, and Post 379 scholarship recipients standing with Legionnaires Cindy Roberts and Brandon Williams. The TLEEAA is for new explorers who have never attended a law enforcement academy. Explorer recruits take part in basic calisthenics/physical training, navigating a US Marine Corp obstacle course, rappelling, team-building exercises, leadership skills, proper handcuffing/search techniques, defensive tactics (including pressure points, strikes, blocks, kicks, etc.), pepper spray/Taser/ASP baton training, a Red-man challenge, firearms safety course, and shooting law enforcement pistols, rifles, shotguns. Students also learn how to perform traffic stops, intoxicated driver investigations, and operate radar. They also learn basic penal code, CCP, traffic, and family laws.
American Legion Auxiliary
The Auxiliary is sending three students to participate in the Auxiliary Girls State Program. Developing leadership skills, confidence and action-based understanding of the government process gives young women a lasting foundation for success, both personally and professionally. The American Legion Auxiliary believes that educating youth about the basic ideals and principles of government will help ensure the survival of our democracy. ALA Girls State is a unique and exciting government-in-action learning program in which Auxiliary members guide young women to become knowledgeable stewards of freedom, democracy, and patriotic citizens.
Post 379 Flag Retirement Pit
Presented to the American Legion Post 379 by members of Scouts BSA. Check out the presentation Plaque. The purpose of the Flag Retirement Pit is for the ceremonial retirement of unserviceable American Flags. The approved method of disposing unserviceable Flags has long been that they be consumed by fire.
Texas Historical Plaque Dedication
Local Bedford Post had their dedication ceremony of the Texas Historical Plaque for the American Legion Post 379. In attendance at American Legion Post 379 were Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne, 93rd House Rep Laura Hill, Mayor Henry Wilson from Hurst, Mayor Linda Martin from Euless, and Mayor Michael Boyter from Bedford, along with many guests and visitors.
